Description: The National Transit Map Stops map service locates and describes U.S. Transit Stops. The data support transportation research, analysis, and planning. The data, which are historical snapshots of past transit service availability, are collected no more than four times a year. The data are unfit for trip planning and do not replace transit agency or commercial trip planning services. The National Transit Map Stops dataset was collected on January 14, 2022 and is from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), and part of U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)/Bureau of Transportation Statistics' (BTS') National Transportation Atlas Database (NTAD). The Stops dataset contains an inventory of transit stops an agency maintains. Each entry represents an individual stop's information. This information includes latitude and longitude coordinates, the stop's name, and can include URLs or stop descriptions. The Transit Stops map service and National Transit Map are made possible through partnerships between U.S. Transit Agencies and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). Partner agencies generously grant BTS access to their GTFS (General Transit Feed Specification) compliant data. This access enables BTS to collect, aggregate, and publish a geospatial service describing the state of American transit services. GTFS Data is stored in the National Transit Map database.
